The Petite Lake Highwoods Board and membership would like to welcome you to the neighborhood! We hope you find PLH to be a welcoming and friendly place to live. Many of our neighbors think so and, in fact, some have lived here more than 50 years. There are also several members who have siblings, parents or children living here as well. What a testament that is to our wonderful neighborhood!
Whether you are a new resident, an existing resident or are just visiting, we would like to "show you around" our neighborhood. There are many features that make Petite Lake Highwoods such a charming place to live!
One of the first things you notice as you enter the neighborhood is that we are not a thoroughfare or "cut-through" to other places. This makes PLH more secluded and with less traffic! Those who enter usually live here or have business with a member.
Our premier feature, however, is our main park and beach area. This is located right in the middle of the subdivision and is convenient to everyone. We have a small swimming beach, a variety of playground equipment for all ages, a basketball court, volleyball area and piers for boats and fishermen. In the winter there is ice fishing, ice skating and snowmobiling for those cold-weather fans.
Our boat slips are rented on a first come basis with priority given to the previous year's renter. After that, a waiting list is established for those next in line. In any case, everyone has access to our boat launch in order to enjoy a day's boating. A $100 deposit (refundable upon request) will provide you with a key to the boat launch, or you may make arrangements with a board member to open it for you.
Management of Petite Lake Highwoods is performed by a seven-member Board which is elected at an Annual Meeting, usually held in September. This meeting is also where the annual budget is reviewed and approved, and any special projects or special assessments are discussed. Basic day to day operations are administered through monthly board meetings.
Once the weather starts warming up, we typically have an annual Spring Cleanup, which is a great way to meet your neighbors! After the work is completed, lunch is provided and the day becomes more social. Throughout the year other social events are planned in order to bring neighbors together for fun and camaraderie.
We hope you enjoy living here as much as we do and that you take advantage of all we have to offer. Hope to see you around the neighborhood!
